Vancouver Goldeneyes goaltender Kristen Campbell holds her mother, Janet Campbell, in high esteem. Kristen admires her mother’s resilience in facing the challenges of the neurological disease while prioritizing her family.
Kristen, hailing from Brandon, Man., is participating in A&W’s annual Burgers to Beat MS campaign to raise funds for MS Canada. A&W will donate $2 from each Teen Burger sold on Aug. 20 to support individuals living with MS and fund research for treatment.
Kristen emphasizes the importance of supporting the cause as her mother is one of 90,000 Canadians living with MS. She aims to raise awareness, advocate for more treatments, and ultimately work towards finding a cure for the disease.
Janet Campbell, despite living with MS, has led a fulfilling life. While she experiences invisible symptoms such as head pain, leg stiffness, and sensitivity to temperature changes, she has not let the disease hinder her. Kristen attributes her strong work ethic and determination, which have propelled her successful hockey career, to her mother’s influence.
Kristen, who was part of the Canadian team that won gold at the 2022 Olympics, transitioned to the Vancouver Goldeneyes in 2025-26. She shares her excitement about playing for the league’s first expansion team and expresses gratitude for the fans’ unwavering support.
After a break following Vancouver’s playoff absence, Kristen delved into coaching goalie camps and resumed her training routine. With the upcoming season set to kick off in November, Kristen looks forward to the PWHL’s growth, with new teams in San Jose, Las Vegas, Detroit, and Hamilton signaling an evolving landscape in women’s hockey.
