“Outcry Over ICE Detaining 5-Year-Old in Minneapolis”

National"Outcry Over ICE Detaining 5-Year-Old in Minneapolis"

A resident expressed deep concern over the situation in Minneapolis after reports emerged about a five-year-old boy being taken into custody by ICE.

ICE faced criticism recently after allegations surfaced that a young child was detained in Minnesota to serve as a means to capture family members. According to a representative from The Columbia Heights Public School District, Liam Conejo Ramos, a five-year-old, was intercepted by masked individuals in his driveway upon returning home from school with his father.

A neighbor, Vanessa Mullenix, expressed distress over the situation, stating, “The targeting of children by ICE and using them as leverage to remove their families from their homes has plunged us into a distressing reality.”

During a visit to Minnesota, Vice President JD Vance defended the action, asserting that the child was not detained and that the operation was aimed at apprehending his father, Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias.

Vance questioned the public response, asking, “Should ICE ignore the presence of a five-year-old? Should they allow a young child to be left in harsh conditions?” He highlighted the necessity of arresting individuals residing illegally in the United States.

Mullenix, a fellow resident of Columbia Heights, shared her dismay, expressing concerns for her loved ones and community. Another individual mentioned that a local school had shifted to online learning to safeguard students who felt unsafe attending in person, deeming it an unfortunate but vital measure.

The Columbia Heights Public School District confirmed that four students had been detained by federal agents in separate incidents over the past fortnight. Mullenix and her neighbor, Kelly Tromsten, conveyed the community’s struggle to come to terms with the distressing events that have thrust their city into the international spotlight.

Tromsten criticized the manipulation of facts, stating, “The distortion of the narrative is appalling. We are all witnessing the same events. How can anyone view these occurrences and demand more evidence? What further proof is needed?”
