“Blast Away Cold Spots: Radiator Experts Share Tips”

Business"Blast Away Cold Spots: Radiator Experts Share Tips"

A specialist from British Gas has shared tips on addressing cold spots in radiators, suggesting a cost-effective tool priced at 97p can help. If you notice cold spots or hear gurgling noises from your radiator, it may need bleeding to release trapped air, which is a straightforward process requiring a radiator key. Before starting, ensure the heating is off and the radiator has cooled down to avoid any risk of burns from hot water. Use an old towel and container to catch water as you turn the valve anti-clockwise with the key. Listen for a hissing sound as air escapes, then tighten the valve once water starts coming out before moving on to the next radiator.

In case you encounter persistent issues even after bleeding the radiators, it is advisable to seek assistance from a gas safe registered engineer. Additionally, a British Gas energy engineer suggests maximizing oven heat by leaving the door open after cooking to warm up the kitchen. Energy bills have recently increased, with households paying around £1,758 a year for gas and electricity. The price cap sets limits on unit rates and standing charges but does not cap the total bill, which varies based on energy usage. Pre-payment meter users now face a yearly cap of £1,711, while bill payers have a cap of £1,894 annually.
