“Nurse Receives £4,350 Settlement for Plane Coffee Burn”

International"Nurse Receives £4,350 Settlement for Plane Coffee Burn"

A nurse who sustained severe burns on a Ryanair flight has received a £4,350 out-of-court settlement, describing it as unexpected. Denise Elliott, 63, was en route to Majorca when she was handed a coffee cup without a lid, as they had run out, leading to the incident.

Denise, from Southsea, criticized the tray table for being unsuitable and causing the accident. She highlighted a rising trend in similar injuries due to the design of tray tables on planes. Despite Ryanair’s denial of her claims, Denise insisted that she did not lie and faced difficulties with the first aid provided on the flight.

Following the Montreal Convention, which regulates international air travel, Denise’s case was handled by Hudgell Solicitors. Despite Ryanair’s initial denial of responsibility, they settled for £4,350 before the trial. Denise expressed disappointment in Ryanair’s response and emphasized the importance of fighting for justice in such situations.

Tracy Stansfield, a senior associate solicitor at Hudgell Solicitors, emphasized the need for airlines like Ryanair to address safety issues to prevent similar incidents in the future. The Mirror has contacted Ryanair for further comments.
