After being eliminated from the W Canadian Championship, the Montreal Roses have taken the decision to part ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. The announcement was made by the club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, in a press release issued on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his role in establishing the professional women’s soccer club during its early stages.
Recognizing that changing coaches is a difficult choice, Pichon emphasized the need for a fresh perspective to navigate the remainder of the season and propel the club’s growth. The Roses are currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, and they have 10 regular season matches left to play.
Robert Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, who previously served as the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
