The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a commanding 85-38 victory at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the win.
Canada took an early lead of 23-4 at Arena Astros and further extended their dominance to 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, will run until Sunday.
After starting strong with a 72-57 win against Senegal on Monday, the Canadian team is set to face host Mexico in their upcoming match on Thursday. The eventual tournament winner will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
