“Breaches Uncovered: Farage Violates MPs’ Code 17 Times”

Politics"Breaches Uncovered: Farage Violates MPs' Code 17 Times"

Nigel Farage has violated the MPs’ code of conduct 17 times due to delays in registering financial interests. The Reform leader, known as “Nine Jobs Nigel,” has faced criticism for his additional income sources beyond his MP salary of £93,904 annually.

According to a report by Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards Daniel Greenberg, multiple breaches were found in Farage’s registered interests. Greenberg initiated a formal inquiry on October 30, 2025, after a public complaint revealed that Farage had repeatedly failed to register interests within the required 28-day period.

Greenberg stated that the late registrations were unintentional, attributed to staffing and administrative challenges. Farage admitted to the breaches and issued an apology. Despite the numerous breaches, the commissioner opted not to escalate the matter to the Committee on Standards, deeming it suitable for rectification.

In response to Greenberg’s inquiry, Farage explained in a letter his diverse interests as a TV presenter, successful businessman, and MP, emphasizing the complexity of his financial engagements. He acknowledged the errors, taking full responsibility and expressing regret for the oversight.

In a later letter, Farage shifted blame to a senior staff member for the delays, requesting a private discussion to address the issue. During a meeting with Greenberg, Farage clarified that his income stemmed from his personal brand and various interests, not from his role as an MP.

Analysis of Farage’s Register of Interests by The Mirror revealed substantial earnings from travel sponsorships and official engagements worldwide. Recent disclosures indicated Farage’s significant earnings from secondary jobs, with notable income from his role as a GB News presenter and other business ventures.

Labour Party representatives criticized Farage’s focus on external pursuits, accusing him of prioritizing personal gain over constituency responsibilities. They called for stricter regulations on MPs’ secondary jobs to ensure public representatives prioritize their obligations to constituents over personal financial interests.
