“Border Patrol Shooting Leaves One Critical”

National"Border Patrol Shooting Leaves One Critical"

An individual is in critical condition following a shooting incident with United States Border Patrol agents near the Mexico border.

The FBI has confirmed an ongoing investigation into an alleged attack on a federal officer near Arivaca, Arizona, a town located approximately 10 miles from the border. This area is frequently used by drug traffickers and illegal migrants, prompting regular patrols by agents.

The unidentified person was shot in southern Pima County near milepost 15 of West Arivaca Road around 7:30 am today, with limited information available on the circumstances of the incident.

Upon responding to the shooting, the Santa Rita Fire District confirmed that the injured individual was in custody and subsequently airlifted to a regional trauma center for urgent medical attention. Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the incident.

The hospital in Tucson and authorities have refrained from disclosing information about the victim and suspect at this time. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is spearheading the investigation with support from the FBI.

In a statement, the PCSD urged the community to be patient and cooperative during the ongoing investigation process, emphasizing the complexity and time requirements of such inquiries.

The incident allegedly involved a Border Patrol agent and a suspect, with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department collaborating closely with federal authorities in response to the shooting.

This event occurs amidst a series of recent shootings, including two fatal incidents, involving immigration officers in Minnesota under the Department of Homeland Security’s jurisdiction.

House Democrats Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark, and Pete Aguilar have accused the Trump administration of misusing public funds for lethal purposes in a public statement. They have also threatened impeachment proceedings against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem if she is not removed from office.

When questioned about the potential dismissal of Noem, President Trump responded with a brief “No,” without elaborating further. Trump dispatched his border czar, Tom Homan, to Minneapolis for discussions with local officials.
