An individual working as a dancer was taken into custody for allegedly beheading her partner just two months into their relationship.
Enrique Gonzalez-Carbajal, aged 55, was discovered decapitated in his girlfriend Alyssa Marie Lira’s residence in Anaheim, California, on August 25. Lira, 23, was identified as the prime suspect, but she managed to escape to Mexico before authorities could apprehend her.
Law enforcement revealed that Lira, who was employed as a stripper at the time of the incident, has been extradited from Mexico to face charges of murder with a weapon enhancement.
The couple initially met when Lira was performing as a dancer at a local strip club in California, as per the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Despite starting a relationship, the tragic demise of Enrique occurred just two months later.
Authorities, with the assistance of the FBI and Mexican officials, located and arrested Lira on January 22. Following her capture, she was transferred to Orange County authorities at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
Details regarding Lira’s whereabouts in Mexico were not disclosed. Prosecutors have not divulged the motive behind the violent act. If convicted, Lira could potentially face a sentence of up to 26 years in prison.
The suspect is set for arraignment on February 13 and is presently held without bail at Orange County Jail. The arraignment is scheduled to take place at the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
