The incident occurred when a high-speed train derailed late on Sunday in Adamuz, Andalusia, veering onto an adjacent track and colliding with another train, which also derailed. Efforts are underway to identify the victims, and three offices have been established across the region to assist families in the identification process. First responders described scenes of chaos upon arrival at Adamuz, emphasizing the severity of the collision between the high-speed trains.

Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and pledged full transparency in investigating the cause of the crash. A total of 48 injured individuals have been discharged from hospitals, while 43 remain under medical care, including 12 in intensive care.
