EDF is introducing a Sunday Saver challenge for its customers, offering free electricity on Sundays in exchange for reducing peak consumption during weekday evenings. Customers can participate by shifting their electricity usage away from the peak hours of 4pm to 7pm each weekday. In return, they can earn between four and 16 hours of free electricity on the following Sunday. EDF customers with smart meters have until Sunday, February 1 to sign up for the challenge.
The energy company has already rewarded over 260,000 households with more than 17 million free hours of electricity through the Sunday Saver initiative, resulting in £5.2 million in bill credits for customers. EDF customers can expect four Sunday Saver challenges in February on the 15th, 22nd, and in March on the 1st and 8th.
Natasha Shields from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, shared her positive experience with the Sunday Saver challenge, having earned over 680 free hours of electricity on Sundays. She mentioned how the challenge has helped her family manage living costs and brought them closer by engaging in activities together during peak hours.
Jon Perks, Sales & Marketing Director at EDF, highlighted the benefits of the Sunday Saver program, emphasizing its role in helping customers reduce costs during the winter months while promoting energy efficiency. Customers can monitor their electricity usage and savings through the Energy Hub platform, enabling them to make informed decisions to lower their carbon footprint.
Additionally, EDF is offering a £50 credit to new and existing customers who sign up for any of its electric vehicle (EV) tariffs within the next month. These EV tariffs provide five hours of cheaper electricity every night from 12am to 5am for both home and electric vehicle charging. Customers can track their Sunday Saver progress and access personalized energy usage insights through the Energy Hub via MyAccount for a more sustainable and cost-effective energy consumption strategy.
