“Malin + Goetz Enters Administration, Closes UK Stores”

Business"Malin + Goetz Enters Administration, Closes UK Stores"

Beauty retailer Malin + Goetz has entered administration, leading to the closure of all seven of its stores across the United Kingdom. The affected stores are located in various areas of London, including Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, and Borough Yards. This decision is expected to impact over 70 jobs.

Additionally, online orders from Malin + Goetz have been temporarily halted, with a statement on their website informing customers of this pause and assuring them of a return to operations soon. Despite the store closures, customers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products through third-party retailers like Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK.

In a statement to TheIndustry.beauty, a Malin+Goetz spokesperson explained that after a thorough business evaluation and exploring all options, the company had to make the difficult choice to place its UK operations into administration, resulting in the shutdown of stores and the head office. The spokesperson expressed regret over the job losses and acknowledged the impact on both employees and customers.

While the website is expected to resume operations following a brief maintenance period, the exact timeline remains uncertain. Founded in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, Malin + Goetz initially offered a small range of skincare products suitable for all skin types. Over the years, the brand expanded its product line to include fragrances, body care items, and various beauty products.
