“Luke Littler Triumphs Over Luke Humphries in World Masters Final”

Sports"Luke Littler Triumphs Over Luke Humphries in World Masters Final"

Luke Littler’s exceptional performance in the World Masters has earned him high praise from Luke Humphries, who dubbed him as “the greatest darts player who has ever lived.” The 19-year-old triumphed over Humphries in a thrilling match to secure his 11th major PDC title and a £100,000 prize. Littler showcased a remarkable 104.72 average and landed 13 maximums during the competition in Milton Keynes. He defeated Josh Rock convincingly in the quarter-finals and narrowly edged past Gerwyn Price 5-4 in the semi-final to advance to the championship round.

With this latest victory, Littler now stands as the joint third most successful player in darts history, sharing this position with James Wade and trailing only Michael van Gerwen (48 titles) and Phil Taylor (79 titles) in terms of championship wins. Littler is on the brink of completing his collection of all PDC ranked titles by clinching the European Championship.

Reflecting on the intense final match, Littler acknowledged the pressure Humphries imposed but commended his opponent’s unwavering class and ability to perform under stress. Despite Humphries’ higher average of 105.51 and a 5-4 lead, Littler rallied in the final two sets to secure victory. Littler expressed his determination and focus in sealing the win, emphasizing the challenges faced during the competition.

Humphries, although disappointed with the outcome, highlighted the positives from the tournament and expressed confidence in his game. The rivalry between Littler and Humphries continues to intensify, with Littler claiming previous TV final victories over Humphries in the World Grand Prix and Grand Slam of Darts last season.
