“Scottish Power Ranks Lowest in UK Energy Suppliers”

Business"Scottish Power Ranks Lowest in UK Energy Suppliers"

Scottish Power has been identified as the poorest energy supplier in the UK, according to recent research. The company received low scores for managing complaints, placing it among the bottom three along with EDF Energy and British Gas, as revealed by a study conducted by consumer group Which?.

Which? conducted a survey involving nearly 12,000 energy consumers to gauge satisfaction levels. They also assessed the internal practices and policies of 17 energy companies. Scottish Power ranked second lowest among all firms, with a customer satisfaction score of 62% and an overall rating of 56%. The company scored poorly in complaint handling, accuracy of billing, ease of contact, and value for money.

EDF Energy fared slightly better than Scottish Power, achieving an overall score of 58%. However, it scored the lowest in customer contact due to limited monitoring of phone lines and email accounts. British Gas received an overall score of 59% and performed poorly in complaint resolution.

On the positive end, lesser-known supplier E received a high score of 79%, excelling in customer satisfaction. Octopus Energy, now the largest energy supplier in the UK, secured the second position with a score of 74%. Both E and Octopus Energy were recognized as Which? Recommended Providers, alongside 100Green and Sainsbury’s Energy.

Emily Seymour, Energy Editor at Which?, emphasized the importance of customer service and value for money. She advised dissatisfied customers to explore other providers offering better service and pricing.

In response to the rankings, ScottishPower highlighted their commitment to customer service improvements and investment in enhancing services. EDF Energy acknowledged areas for improvement and emphasized their support for customers in need. British Gas noted a decline in complaints and cited high satisfaction ratings from Ofgem. The company expressed continuous efforts to enhance customer experience.
