“Idiot Brothers’ 90mph Race Causes Severe Accident”

Updates"Idiot Brothers' 90mph Race Causes Severe Accident"

Two siblings, described as “idiot” brothers, caused a severe accident by racing each other at 90mph, resulting in critical injuries to a teenage girl, as detailed in court. Harrison Taylor, aged 19, and his 21-year-old brother Henry engaged in a high-speed race on the Sandbanks peninsula in Dorset. The incident occurred around 1 am on Boxing Day in 2023. Harrison was driving a Mercedes A200, while his older brother was in a BMW 135i. The court revealed that the brothers had been given these powerful cars to cope with their parents’ separation.

During the race, Harrison lost control of the Mercedes on a bend, crashing into a gatepost of a luxurious mansion. Subsequently, the BMW collided with the Mercedes, propelling it into a garden wall. A 17-year-old girl named Mia Savage, who was a passenger in the Mercedes, sustained life-altering injuries and had to be extricated from the wreck. She suffered multiple serious injuries, including a shattered left femur, a fractured neck, broken arm, eight broken ribs, and significant internal bleeding from various organ injuries.

Following the accident, Mia underwent extensive surgeries, spent time in a medically induced coma, and had a prolonged recovery period. Her injuries also led to her missing out on a sports scholarship and impacted her academic pursuits. Despite the severity of the incident, the Taylor brothers received suspended sentences for causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The judge, considering their age and lack of prior offenses, imposed a three-year driving ban on them.

Mia’s mother expressed disappointment with the court’s decision, stating that the brothers’ actions had negatively impacted multiple lives. The court learned that the brothers and their friends had been at a nearby property before deciding to drive around Sandbanks in a convoy. Mia, initially planning to ride in another car, switched to Harrison’s Mercedes at his request.

In a statement, Mia recounted the harrowing experience of the accident and its aftermath, expressing regret for joining Harrison in the car. She detailed the physical and emotional trauma she endured, including being diagnosed with PTSD and facing challenges in her relationships post-accident. The court also noted that both brothers tested negative for drugs and alcohol at the scene.

The judge condemned the brothers’ reckless behavior and the consequences of their actions, highlighting the devastating impact on Mia’s life. He criticized the decision to provide such powerful cars to young, inexperienced drivers and stressed the need for responsible driving. Despite the severity of the incident, the brothers were spared jail time but faced strict sentencing measures, including a curfew and driving ban.
