Britain is gearing up for an impending snowfall set to arrive within hours following an amber warning issued by the Met Office, sparking concerns of disrupted travel and potential power outages. Fresh projections from WXCHARTS, utilizing MetDesk data, indicate the onset of snow early this morning at 6 am, with widespread coverage expected from Cape Wrath in northern Scotland down to the Peak District in Derbyshire.

By 9 am, parts of Aberdeenshire and the Highlands may witness snow accumulation of up to 18 inches, marking the most substantial snowfall in the UK. English regions are anticipated to experience lower snow levels, with the North West facing up to 6 inches. The Met Office’s forecast for Sunday indicates a shift to wet and windy conditions, with snowfall in the north and a risk of ice due to freezing rain, alongside strengthening winds and coastal gales, while the west remains relatively mild, as reported by the Express.

In addition to yellow warnings, the Met Office has issued yellow and amber weather alerts for today, cautioning against adverse conditions such as wind, rain, snow, and ice. An unusual amber snow alert covers Scotland from 3 am to 3 pm, highlighting the potential for travel disruptions, including road delays, stranded vehicles, and possible rail and air travel interruptions. Moreover, rural communities may face isolation, power outages are likely, and services like mobile phone coverage could be impacted.
