Tyson Fury has unveiled a list of three opponents he aims to face upon his boxing comeback this year, with a potential clash against Anthony Joshua topping the list.
The ‘Gypsy King’ initially announced his retirement in January after suffering consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk but has since reversed his decision. Recent months have shown Fury intensifying his training regimen, currently honing his skills in Thailand for an anticipated busy year in the ring.
At 37, Fury has been training alongside WBC bridgerweight champion Kevin Lerena, openly discussing potential matchups. Following his defeat to Usyk in December 2024, Fury has persistently called for a third fight with his long-standing rival.
Apart from Usyk, the former two-time heavyweight champion is also eyeing bouts with fellow Britons Joshua and Fabio Wardley. In a recent social media post, Fury shared an image portraying him facing off against these three heavyweight contenders.
Amidst speculations, Fury hinted at a potential fight with Wardley, suggesting a showdown could be possible later in 2026. Wardley’s impressive victory over Joseph Parker in October propelled him to the WBO interim title, subsequently upgraded to the full champion status after Usyk vacated the title.
Despite the interest in a trilogy fight with Usyk, the Ukrainian’s advisor hinted at the unlikelihood of the matchup, indicating the rivalry might have reached its conclusion. Fans have long awaited a British showdown between Fury and Joshua, but uncertainties loom over Joshua’s future following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close associates.
Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding a potential Fury-Joshua bout, hinting that the fight might not materialize until late 2026, if at all. Warren expressed concern for Joshua’s well-being post-accident, emphasizing the mental toll such tragedies can take.
