“Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua Agree to Heavyweight Showdown”

Sports"Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua Agree to Heavyweight Showdown"

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have reportedly reached an agreement to face off in an anticipated heavyweight battle, with key details now disclosed.

Earlier in December, news surfaced about their upcoming showdown in 2026 to settle their longstanding rivalry in the boxing ring. However, shortly after securing a knockout victory over Jake Paul during the recent Christmas season, Anthony Joshua was involved in a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his close friends Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele.

Despite concerns that Joshua might not return to the sport following the accident, the former two-time heavyweight champion is back in light training and considering a potential comeback to the ring this summer. Talks suggest that Joshua may face former rival Dillian Whyte before pursuing a match against Fury.

According to boxing journalist Gareth A Davies, both Fury and Joshua have officially agreed to the fight. Davies confirmed on talkSPORT that the bout is already signed behind the scenes, stating, “The Fury-Joshua fight is signed. Okay, it is signed in the background. I’ve got that on good authority.”

Additionally, Davies mentioned that the event is set to be broadcast on Netflix and is likely to occur either later this year or early next year, with Joshua expected to return to action in June or July. He emphasized, “It’s with the big money people. It’ll be on Netflix. It’s on the cards and it’s going to happen.”

Netflix is scheduled to air Fury’s comeback on April 11. Fury, who previously announced a retirement from boxing only to reverse it, is slated to face Russian knockout artist Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The streaming platform has been active in showcasing high-profile boxing matches, including those involving top fighters like Paul, Alvarez, Crawford, Taylor, Serrano, and Tyson.

Joshua is nearing a full training return for a potential comeback later this year. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed that a potential all-British showdown between Fury and Joshua remains a possibility despite the challenges faced by his client. Hearn stated, “He’s not going to fight Tyson Fury next; he’s going to come back, I believe, in late summer.”

Hearn expressed openness towards the Fury fight but suggested a more likely timeframe towards the end of the year or early in 2027, acknowledging the risks associated with Joshua’s return to the ring after recent events.
