“Theatre Employee’s Spooderman Poster Goes Viral”

Updates"Theatre Employee's Spooderman Poster Goes Viral"

A theatre employee named Drake Landon took matters into his own hands when the Famous Players Six theatre in Prince George, B.C., did not receive promotional posters for the movie “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” due to a shipping error. Landon, an artist, was asked by his manager to create a replacement poster in the style of the internet meme Spooderman, known for its crude MS Paint parody of Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Despite being able to draw the actual Spider-Man, Landon opted to draw Spooderman to match the theme of the movie. He included a note on the makeshift poster apologizing for the absence of the official posters. Movie-goer Adam Woodrow, who saw the poster at the theatre with his son Rogan, found it “awesome.” Rogan even took a picture of Landon next to his creation and shared it on local community forums, leading to significant online attention and praise.

The Spooderman poster has gained popularity online, particularly on platforms like the Marvel Studios subreddit with over 54,000 upvotes. While some have suggested Landon draw all movie posters for the theatre or sell his Spooderman drawings, he expressed a preference for drawing robots, intricate machines, and weapons in his free time.

Landon acknowledged the recognition but attributed the credit to the original idea of Spooderman and its creator. His father, Craig Landon, expressed pride in his son’s creativity, noting that Drake has been drawing for years and deserves the attention. Cineplex plans to replace Landon’s poster with the official “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” poster but will find a new spot for the hand-drawn version in the theatre. Landon hopes to produce prints of his now-famous poster in the future.
