Updates"Storm Goretti Wreaks Havoc Across UK & France"

A severe weather event named Storm Goretti has caused widespread power outages, school closures, and travel disruptions affecting thousands of individuals. The storm, with winds reaching nearly 100mph, prompted a rare red warning for dangerous winds in the South West region.

As a result of the storm, over 40,000 properties in the South West were left without power, with additional power outages reported in the West Midlands, East Midlands, and Wales. Support is being provided to households experiencing power loss, with efforts underway to restore electricity to affected customers.

The Met Office reported that Storm Goretti is still creating challenges, with a mix of rain, sleet, and snow impacting various areas. Significant snowfall was recorded in locations such as Powys, Shropshire, Nottingham, and Scotland, with temperatures dropping to minus 13.3C in Aberdeenshire.

Numerous incidents were reported due to the storm, including fallen trees blocking roads, damaged vehicles, and property destruction. Forecasters have issued warnings of potential flooding over the weekend, with the River Ouse already overflowing in Barcombe, East Sussex.

Storm Goretti, named by Meteo France, also brought massive waves to the northwest coast of France, adding to the series of weather-related challenges faced by affected regions.
