“Russia Threatens Nuclear Attack on Europe Over Ukraine Crisis”

International"Russia Threatens Nuclear Attack on Europe Over Ukraine Crisis"

Russia has issued a direct threat to use nuclear weapons against the UK and mainland Europe. Sergey Karaganov, who leads Russia’s Council for Foreign and Defense Policy, stated that if Russia faces defeat in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin would resort to nuclear weapons, resulting in the physical destruction of Europe.

Karaganov criticized his own government for showing too much patience towards Europe. In an interview with right-wing American commentator Tucker Carlson, he expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing support for the war in Ukraine and warned of severe consequences if it continues.

Describing the idea of a Russian defeat as a misguided notion, Karaganov highlighted what he called an “intellectual incapacity” among European leaders. He remarked on the declining global perception of Europe, once a dominant center of power, now considered a joke due to what he perceives as leadership shortcomings.

According to Karaganov, European leaders lack a full understanding of current events, attributing this to what he sees as a decline in intellectual capacity since 1968. He emphasized the need to bring European leaders to their senses without resorting to nuclear weapons.

These statements come amidst escalating global tensions. Denmark has increased its military presence in the Arctic and High North, prompting the UK to send a military officer to Greenland in response. This move aligns with calls from former US President Donald Trump for the US to assert control over Greenland.

Denmark’s defense minister, Troels Lund Poulsen, emphasized the unpredictable nature of the situation and announced a joint operation involving allied countries to reinforce security in the region. Several nations, including Germany, Sweden, Norway, and France, have committed personnel to the joint mission aimed at enhancing regional security and operational capabilities.

The heightened security concerns follow persistent pressure from Donald Trump regarding US control over Greenland, citing fears of Russian or Chinese influence in the region. The Trump administration’s suggestion of using force to annex Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark, has raised concerns about the future of the transatlantic alliance.
