Greene King is offering complimentary pints of Guinness this weekend as the Six Nations rugby tournament begins. To claim your free pint, simply reserve a table for any Six Nations match on February 7 through the Greene King website and present your booking confirmation at the bar.
This promotion is valid at all Greene King sports pubs, including Flaming Grill, Hungry Horse, and Belhaven, as part of their new Fans Reunited initiative. The campaign features Rugby World Cup champions Martin Johnson and Jason Robinson.
Zoe Bowley, Managing Director of Greene King pubs, stated, “Fans Reunited recognizes the significant role of sports and pub culture in uniting people. By launching during the Guinness Six Nations and offering fans a complimentary pint, we aim to facilitate reunions where old friends can reconnect over a drink.”
Rugby icon Martin Johnson emphasized the power of rugby in fostering lasting friendships and bringing people together. The pub atmosphere enhances this experience, creating memorable moments that reignite old connections and strengthen the rugby community.
In related news, the Treasury has announced a 15% reduction in business rates for pubs and music venues starting in April as part of a comprehensive support package. This decision follows pressure on the government to provide aid after changes were implemented in the November budget and pandemic support ended.
According to Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson, this relief will amount to an average of £1,650 for pubs next year. While pubs and music venues will benefit, other hospitality establishments like hotels and restaurants will not receive the same level of additional support.
Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, expressed gratitude for the specific support package for pubs, which will alleviate financial pressures and help maintain the viability of these establishments.
