National"Extreme Winter Storm Puts 200M Americans at Risk"

A massive winter storm has put over 200 million Americans at risk and caused power outages in approximately 500,000 homes, with temperatures expected to drop as low as -37C.

Extreme cold alerts have been issued throughout the United States, stretching from New England to the southern Rocky Mountains. A total of 37 states have felt the impact of the severe weather conditions.

Unprecedented heavy snow and ice have made their way into traditionally warm regions like Arkansas and Tennessee. About 20 states have declared a state of emergency, and nine have mobilized the National Guard in response to the potentially hazardous storm.

The National Weather Service has warned of significant ice buildup, which could lead to prolonged power failures, extensive tree damage, and extremely perilous travel conditions.

This severe weather has caused widespread disruptions in travel across the country, resulting in over 13,000 flight cancellations – the highest single-day cancellation rate since the onset of the Covid pandemic.

Individuals have been seen frantically stocking up on food and supplies as shelves remain bare in the face of the crisis.

In various locations such as Philadelphia, New York City, Dallas, Kansas City, and Washington DC, people are contending with icy roads, snow-covered streets, and major travel chaos.

In Chicago, a man captures the icy scene at Lake Michigan, while travelers at La Guardia Airport experience significant disruptions. The nation is grappling with the challenges posed by this extreme weather event.
