“BBC Co-commentator Calls Out Canada Curling Team”

Sports"BBC Co-commentator Calls Out Canada Curling Team"

BBC co-commentator Steve Cram has urged Winter Olympic officials to address the Canada curling team regarding their use of inappropriate language. The Canadians handed Team GB a significant defeat with a score of 9-5.

Brad Jacobs’ team has been embroiled in controversy during their time in Milan and Cortina. The BBC had to issue an apology after Canada’s third player, Marc Kennedy, engaged in a profanity-laden exchange with Swedish player Oskar Eriksson earlier in the competition.

Kennedy also faced allegations of improperly touching his stone in their match against Sweden, prompting World Curling to issue a statement clarifying the rules. Despite this, the BBC commentary team once again criticized the Canadians for their language.

During a break in the Tuesday match, the Canadian team was overheard using foul language near TV cameras, much to the dismay of Cram and co-commentator Logan Gray. Cram expressed his disapproval after one team member was heard cursing following a point they secured.

Cram, who also has experience in athletics commentary, emphasized the need for intervention with the Canadian team, leading Gray to comment on their language. At that point, Canada was leading 3-1 after the third end, making it a crucial moment in the game.

Following their loss to Canada, Team GB, led by Mouat, now faces a tough challenge to secure a spot in the semi-finals after winning the silver medal in the 2022 Games. Their defeat to Norway in the previous round robin match added pressure to their clash with Canada, making their upcoming game against the USA crucial.

Even a victory against the Americans might not be sufficient for Team GB to advance to the semi-finals. They will have to rely on favorable outcomes from other matches to secure their place in the next stage of the competition.
