Sports"A'ja Wilson and Jackie Young Lead Aces to 93-73 Victory"

A’ja Wilson dominated with 27 points and eight rebounds, while Jackie Young contributed 23 points as the Las Vegas Aces triumphed 93-73 against the Toronto Tempo in a Friday night matchup. Young showcased her playmaking skills with eight assists and zero turnovers, with Chelsea Gray chipping in 11 points. This victory marked the Aces’ first game without NaLyssa Smith, who sustained a season-ending left leg injury in their previous match against Toronto.

Toronto, led by Isabelle Harrison with 15 points, Laura Juskaite with 14 points, and Kia Nurse with 12 points, couldn’t match the Aces’ firepower. Kiki Rice and Kiana Williams each added 10 points coming off the bench for Toronto.

The Aces (27-13) maintained their one-game lead for third place in the WNBA playoff race by defeating the struggling Tempo. Meanwhile, Indiana (26-14) secured a commanding 111-91 victory over Connecticut to stay close behind in the playoff race.

Jackie Young’s crucial 3-pointer broke the early tie, setting the tone for Las Vegas to control the game. The Aces closed the first quarter with a 27-17 lead, shooting efficiently at 50% from the field, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Toronto’s nine turnovers in the first quarter added to their struggles against the Aces’ offensive onslaught.

Las Vegas continued their sharp shooting in the second quarter, extending their lead to 56-39 by halftime. Although their 3-point shooting cooled off in the second quarter, Las Vegas still managed to shoot 50% from the field, making 18 of their 36 attempts.

Toronto’s defensive woes continued into the first half, committing 12 personal fouls which allowed the Aces to capitalize by converting 13 of 14 free throw attempts.

Looking ahead, the Tempo will face the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday, while the Aces will visit the Seattle Storm on Thursday, September 17.
