SeatGeek Canada has recently incurred two additional fines from the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. The province’s consumer protection website reveals that the fines imposed on the ticket resale platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.
According to the website, the initial fine of $15,000 was issued for allegedly offering a ticket for sale or facilitating its resale at a price exceeding the authorized limit. The second penalty of $7,500 was imposed for purportedly failing to disclose the total ticket price when a seat was purchased directly from the primary seller.
Both the Ontario government and SeatGeek Canada have not provided immediate responses to inquiries regarding the specific events linked to the fines or whether the platform intends to contest the penalties. Notably, the company had previously been fined $25,000 by the province in August for similar violations.
