Adolescents Escape Kidnapping Ordeal in Nantes

UpdatesAdolescents Escape Kidnapping Ordeal in Nantes

Two adolescents who were reportedly subjected to a terrifying kidnapping incident where they were forced to dig their own graves at gunpoint have been discharged from the hospital. The two boys, aged 14 and 16, were allegedly taken and held captive for several hours in a secluded area near Nantes, France, in a situation believed to be connected to ongoing disputes between rival drug factions.

The victims were apparently forced into a vehicle and transported to a forest where they were stripped, physically assaulted, threatened, and coerced to excavate their own graves under the threat of a gun. Fortunately, they managed to flee and seek assistance at a nearby residence.

Authorities have initiated a probe for “violence and kidnapping with a weapon” following the incident that occurred on January 2. The ordeal, beginning around 1 am, concluded approximately two hours later when the victims sought help from a resident in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre.

Upon noticing the boys’ injuries, including cuts to their fingers and faces, the homeowner promptly alerted the police. One of the teenagers had sustained a stab wound in the thigh, as confirmed by Antoine Leroy from the Nantes prosecutor’s office, who stated that the individuals are no longer hospitalized. Leroy highlighted the connection of these events to drug-related offenses and turf conflicts.

No arrests have been made in relation to this alarming incident, which is just one in a series of distressing events involving young individuals amid the ongoing drug-related conflicts in France. Experts have warned that criminal organizations are now exploiting children as young as 12 for the trafficking of illicit substances.

In a separate incident last month, eight individuals were apprehended on suspicion of murder after a teenager’s demise was broadcast live on social media, and his body was set ablaze. The charred remains of the 19-year-old man were discovered in a remote area near Nîmes in southern France on July 15, showing signs of a meticulously planned execution.

The victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head, and his body had been intentionally burned. Investigations revealed that his death was live-streamed on social media as part of a growing gang conflict in Nîmes.

A surge in violent crimes in the region has been attributed to gangs migrating from Marseille, prompting the implementation of a city-wide curfew on individuals under 16 last summer.
