“26 Shootings by US Immigration Authorities Since 2025”

National"26 Shootings by US Immigration Authorities Since 2025"

US immigration authorities have been engaged in a total of 26 shootings since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term in January 2025. The most recent incident, which shocked viewers, was captured on video and shared online. Among these shootings, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been linked to 11 cases, including the most recent one in Minneapolis.

A disturbing video surfaced today showing ICE agents firing at an unarmed individual during an altercation in Minneapolis, near Glam Doll Donuts. Witnesses described the scene where agents shot the man while he lay motionless on the ground after being wrestled to the pavement.

Out of the 26 shootings involving ICE since the onset of Trump’s second term, six resulted in fatalities, according to compiled reports involving ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). These incidents have occurred across 15 states and the District of Columbia, encompassing various scenarios such as traffic stops, arrests, border enforcement actions, and off-duty encounters. Both ICE and CBP fall under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security.

Analysts and media sources have highlighted a concerning trend of officers firing at or into moving vehicles. The Wall Street Journal identified at least 13 instances since July 2025 where immigration officers fired at or into vehicles, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities, including cases involving US citizens.

The first fatal shooting during this period occurred in Coventry, Vermont, on January 20, 2025, when CBP agents engaged in a shootout with individuals near the Canadian border, resulting in casualties. Subsequent fatal incidents included a shooting in Rio Grande City, Texas, and an off-duty ICE agent fatally shooting a man in Los Angeles.

Recent incidents in various locations involving ICE agents shooting individuals during immigration operations have raised concerns. In some cases, suspects attempted to flee in vehicles, leading to confrontations with law enforcement agents.

Protests and public backlash have erupted following several of these shootings, with one incident in North Minneapolis resulting in demonstrators pelting agents with snowballs and setting off fireworks. The use of force by federal security forces in response to protests has also sparked controversy.

The series of shootings involving ICE agents underscores the complex and contentious nature of immigration enforcement in the United States, prompting scrutiny and calls for greater accountability and transparency in law enforcement actions.
