“Manhattan S4-R Challenges Sky Q with 4K TV Recorder”

Tech"Manhattan S4-R Challenges Sky Q with 4K TV Recorder"

Sky Q has been a popular TV device in the UK for over a decade, known for its ability to store content on its internal hard drive. Despite its longevity, a new competitor has emerged in the form of the Manhattan S4-R Freesat 4K TV Recorder.

Similar to Sky Q, the Manhattan S4-R utilizes a satellite dish to deliver programming and offers recording capabilities with its internal storage. Users can enjoy features like a comprehensive interactive TV guide and the ability to pause live TV. One major advantage of the S4-R is that it does not require any subscription fees, providing access to over 100 free TV and radio channels.

The Manhattan S4-R comes with a 500GB hard drive, allowing for approximately 300 hours of content storage. Larger storage options of 1TB and 2TB will be available soon for users needing more space. The device also supports simultaneous recording of multiple channels and provides live TV controls like pausing and rewinding broadcasts.

With a user-friendly interface, search functionality, and access to a vast library of on-demand content through various apps such as BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, and My5, the Manhattan S4-R aims to deliver a seamless viewing experience. According to Manhattan’s COO, Alex Arbab-Zadeh, the S4-R enhances recording capabilities by enabling up to four simultaneous recordings, double the previous limit.

Positioned as a cost-effective alternative to subscription TV services, the Manhattan S4-R offers flexibility, choice, and the opportunity to avoid high monthly bills. The device is set to launch this month and will be available at retailers like Currys, John Lewis, Argos, and Richer Sounds. Pricing for the S4-R starts at £219.99 for the 500GB model, with the 1TB version set to debut in May at £249.99, and the 2TB model arriving in June priced at £279.99.
