David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event in Markham. Malukas clocked a time of 1:14.194 in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for later in the evening.
Following closely behind, Alex Palou secured the second-best time with a lap time of 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger took the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 around the Markham downtown road course.
Due to incomplete course construction and safety inspections, the organizers were forced to cancel the initial track sessions of the event.
Markham is hosting the race for the first time this year, having relocated from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held annually since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had also topped the charts in the morning practice session, completing his lap in 1:14.9915 seconds.
