A 75-year-old British tourist passed away following a swimming incident at El Duque beach in Tenerife. Lifeguards assisted the man after he was rescued from the water in Costa Adeje. Despite efforts from a doctor, nurse, and paramedics, the man went into cardiac arrest and could not be revived.
The deceased individual, initially thought to be a 70-year-old foreigner, was confirmed to be a British national who recently turned 75. El Duque beach, known for its strong currents and Blue Flag status, is an urban beach where the incident occurred. It is uncertain whether the man was alone or accompanied by others during the tragedy.
An autopsy scheduled in Santa Cruz will determine the cause of death, whether it was related to drowning or a pre-existing health issue. Emergency response officials reported that despite the rescue efforts, the man was pronounced dead on-site. The incident was attended by local police and the National Police force for investigation purposes.
