Oliver Bearman showed visible signs of distress after a high-speed collision during the Japanese Grand Prix. The British racer urgently signaled for assistance from the track marshals after his Formula 1 car spun out of control and hit a barrier.
Following the incident, two marshals helped Bearman to walk as he appeared to be in significant pain. He was limping noticeably and eventually collapsed behind the barrier, clutching his right lower leg and ankle, prompting the medical car to be dispatched.
Bearman was swiftly taken to the circuit medical center for further evaluation. A Haas representative later confirmed that X-rays revealed no fractures, only a bruise on his right knee.
The crash caused a delay in the Grand Prix as the damaged Haas car needed to be removed from the track and the barrier repaired. The race resumed on lap 28 with Kimi Antonelli leading the restart, while Oscar Piastri followed closely behind.
Antonelli maintained his lead after the restart, with Lewis Hamilton making a strong comeback to challenge in third place. Meanwhile, George Russell faced setbacks, dropping positions due to deployment issues.
Piastri held onto second place ahead of Hamilton, who was gradually losing ground to the race leader. Lando Norris struggled to move up from sixth position, and Max Verstappen also encountered difficulties further down the field.
Verstappen had trouble overtaking Pierre Gasly’s Alpine car, highlighting the challenges faced by the Red Bull driver during the race.
