A tragic train collision in Spain’s Córdoba province has resulted in the death of at least 39 individuals, leaving a six-year-old girl orphaned. The incident occurred when a northbound train from Málaga to Madrid’s Atocha station collided with a southbound train from Madrid to Huelva near Adamuz on Sunday, carrying a total of nearly 500 passengers.

Among the casualties were the parents of the young girl who were returning from watching the Lion King musical in Madrid. The family members, identified as Jose Zamorano, Cristina Alvarez, Pepe Zamorano (12-year-old son), and Felix Zamorano (cousin), tragically lost their lives in the crash.

Following the accident, the girl, whose identity remains undisclosed, was cared for by a police officer and is reported to be physically unharmed, receiving three stitches for a head injury. She is now staying with her grandmother in Cordoba. The community is mourning the loss of the family members, with the local mayor declaring three days of official mourning. The search for the missing residents of Punta Umbria continues, with hope for their safe discovery.

Expressions of sympathy poured in for the victims, with friends and acquaintances offering condolences and support. The tragic incident has deeply affected the local community, prompting an outpouring of grief and solidarity during this challenging time.
