Conor McGregor has expressed approval for the upcoming UFC event at the White House, even though he is not slated to participate in it.
Initially rumored to headline a fight on President Donald Trump’s front lawn against Michael Chandler on June 14, McGregor is now expected to return to the octagon the following month. UFC CEO Dana White recently unveiled the White House card, featuring Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje in the main event.
In another significant matchup, Alex Pereira will move up to the heavyweight division to challenge Ciryl Gane for the interim belt in the co-main event. McGregor showcased his support for the card by sharing a photo on social media with the caption “love it,” despite his absence from the lineup. He later described it as “a great card.”
McGregor had earlier disclosed that he was awaiting confirmation of his next fight. He revealed his enthusiasm for the proposed White House bout against Chandler, emphasizing the potential excitement and competitiveness it would bring. However, plans shifted, and McGregor hinted at a possible return during International Fight Week.
Additionally, McGregor hinted at his return to the welterweight division for his comeback fight. He expressed readiness to face any offered opponent and expressed hope for a suitable contract to be presented soon.
