‘Wartime Bomb Discovered Near Birmingham Estate Causes Train Disruption’

Updates'Wartime Bomb Discovered Near Birmingham Estate Causes Train Disruption'

Train services in Birmingham have been disrupted due to the finding of a ‘wartime bomb’ near a trading estate. The old mortar device was discovered this morning, prompting an evacuation and the closure of lines between Birmingham New Street and Duddeston. A bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the scene, leading to delays in services across the network. Although lines have since reopened, delays are expected to persist. The bomb discovery at Duddeston Mill Trading Estate caused significant disruption, with all lines now operational but delays anticipated until at least 3pm. CrossCountry services have improved, with full line openings reported. However, National Rail cautioned that cancellations and delays remain possible. Network Rail indicated that disruption is likely to continue into the afternoon as a bomb disposal team manages the situation with a 100-meter exclusion zone in place. Both Network Rail and West Midlands Police are coordinating their efforts to address the incident, ensuring the safety of those in the affected area.
