Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to travel to Canada next week, as per information obtained by Radio-Canada sources. The anticipated visit, initially disclosed by the Globe and Mail, has been verified by two separate sources. It is reported that the visit may involve two destinations in Canada.
Zelenskyy’s previous visit to Canada occurred in December, during which he met with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax before proceeding to the U.S. for discussions with President Donald Trump aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The Prime Minister’s Office has chosen not to provide any comments regarding the impending visit.
In other news, Russian President Vladimir Putin remarked that various nations, including the U.S. and China, were prepared to assist in achieving a peaceful resolution between Russia and Ukraine. Putin emphasized that the primary responsibility for resolving the conflict rested with the involved countries, namely Russia and Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to those contributing to the peace process and expressed optimism about the possibility of a resolution.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, speaking in Kyiv, expressed his belief in a renewed momentum in peace efforts, characterized by increased political and diplomatic engagements in numerous global capitals. He hinted at upcoming developments but encouraged reporters to stay updated with the latest news.
Following over four years of Europe’s most deadly conflict since World War II, both sides rarely offer positive assessments of peace prospects. The last mediated talks between the two parties took place in the U.S. back in February.
