A tragic incident occurred at a bustling shopping center in Canberra, Australia, where a car crashed into a store, resulting in the death of a four-year-old boy. The accident took place around 10:20 am on Sunday, January 18, at the BWS store in Southlands Shopping Centre. Emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle veering off the road and colliding with the store.

Medical teams on the scene provided immediate care to the young boy, who was in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, the boy succumbed to his injuries shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

Authorities confirmed that the boy, identified as the second road fatality in the Australian Capital Territory in 2026, was struck by the car and tragically lost his life. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital for evaluation. The ACT Road Policing’s Major Collision Team is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the collision, with a report to be submitted to the Coroner.
