Tiger Woods, aged 50, has reportedly entered a plea of not guilty after being arrested in Florida following a rollover crash involving two vehicles. The 15-time major champion is facing charges related to driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to undergo a lawful test.
The incident occurred when Woods rolled his vehicle while attempting to pass a tow truck on a narrow road, resulting in the SUV being left on its side. Despite registering a 0.00 on a breathalyzer test, he declined to provide a urine sample.
Following the crash, Woods was held at Martin County Jail for a mandatory eight hours before being released and returning home. The legal representation for Woods has been confirmed to be lawyer Douglas Duncan.
The events surrounding Woods’ arrest unfolded after the Jupiter Island Police Department responded to a call about a rollover crash involving a Land Rover. Sheriff John Budensiek stated that initial suspicions of alcohol involvement were dispelled when Woods tested negative on the breathalyzer. However, he faces charges for DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Sheriff Budensiek emphasized that Woods, despite exhibiting signs of impairment, did not sustain any injuries in the crash. The investigation into the incident was jointly conducted by the Jupiter Island Police Department and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, with DUI investigators determining that Woods should be arrested and taken into custody.
Woods’ physical condition, including past injuries and surgeries, was taken into consideration during the investigation. Sheriff Budensiek confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the crash involving Woods and the other individual.
