‘The Magnet’ Tim Pusey Raises Eyebrows at World Darts Championship

Sports'The Magnet' Tim Pusey Raises Eyebrows at World Darts Championship

Tim Pusey secures his place at the World Darts Championship, potentially causing a dilemma for the organizers due to his daring alias. The 31-year-old, known as ‘The Magnet’ in competitions, earned his spot by clinching three titles on the ADA Tour and finishing atop the leaderboard, joining defending champion Luke Littler at Alexandra Palace.

During his previous appearances in televised World Series events in 2018, 2019, and earlier in 2025, Pusey did not use a nickname. However, if asked, he may be required to alter his moniker, as was the case with World No 80 Owen Bates, who had to abandon his nickname ‘The Master’ after it was deemed inappropriate by the PDC.

Littler, the current titleholder, is gearing up to defend his championship at Ally Pally in December, following his victory against Michael van Gerwen earlier this year. The tournament, commencing on December 11 and culminating in the final on January 3, marks a key period for the sport.

Reflecting on his ambitions, Littler expressed confidence in potentially surpassing the 11 world titles held by Phil Taylor, emphasizing his determination to continue striving for success and adding more accolades to his name. Despite falling short in the Premier League this year, Littler bounced back with a triumph in the World Matchplay, defeating James Wade in the final.
