“Stay Alert: Scammers Target Amazon Prime Day Deals”

Tech"Stay Alert: Scammers Target Amazon Prime Day Deals"

With Amazon’s Prime Day approaching, Prime account holders should be extra cautious. The retail giant is gearing up for two days of discounts, attracting both savvy shoppers and potential scammers. Cyber security experts warn that scammers may take advantage of the rush for deals.

Check Point, a security team, reports over 700 new Amazon-related domains registered online, with 1 in 18 flagged as suspicious. Alarmingly, 1 in 36 of these domains include the term “Amazon Prime.”

Shoppers need to be wary of fake emails or texts claiming payment issues with Amazon or fake alerts about Prime account suspensions, as falling for these scams could lead to hackers gaining access to personal information.

Check Point emphasized the importance of vigilance during Amazon Prime Day 2025, urging shoppers to verify links and emails before clicking to stay safe from phishing attempts.

To avoid scams, here are some tips:
– Verify domains before trusting them, sticking to official sites like Amazon.com.
– Avoid clicking on email or PDF links; instead, access Amazon directly through your browser.
– Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your Amazon account for added security.
– Implement layered protection across various devices and networks to reduce risks.
– Scrutinize URLs, attachments, and content in unexpected messages for signs of phishing attempts.

While enjoying the sale event, consumers are advised to remain alert and cautious of any suspicious communications or websites.
