“Sir AP McCoy and Barry Geraghty weigh in on Constitution Hill’s future”

Sports"Sir AP McCoy and Barry Geraghty weigh in on Constitution Hill's future"

Sir AP McCoy has shared his thoughts on the future plans for Constitution Hill, a once-promising jumps horse. Constitution Hill, who won the 2023 Champion Hurdle and had an impeccable record of ten consecutive wins, faced setbacks at the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National meeting at Aintree.

Trainer Nicky Henderson, after a thorough assessment during the summer, believed Constitution Hill was back in form for the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle. However, the horse fell at the second hurdle in the race, won by Golden Ace.

Despite these recent mishaps, Henderson has ruled out retirement for Constitution Hill and is considering transitioning the horse to Flat racing. McCoy shared his insights on the situation during a segment of William Hill’s Inside Track, emphasizing the horse’s potential and resilience.

On the other hand, Barry Geraghty, a William Hill ambassador who originally purchased Constitution Hill, suggested exploring options to improve the horse’s jumping skills before making any decisions about his future. Geraghty recommended a possible rehabilitation program with Yogi Breisner, known for innovative training methods.

Ultimately, the decision on Constitution Hill’s future path, whether to continue over hurdles or explore other avenues like Flat racing or further training, rests with the connections involved in the horse’s career.
