“Severe Weather Shuts Down Fourth European Airport”

International"Severe Weather Shuts Down Fourth European Airport"

A recent severe weather event has led to the closure of a fourth major airport in Europe. Budapest Airport cited safety concerns due to icy conditions, resulting in a temporary shutdown. Similar disruptions were seen at Vienna Airport in Austria and Bratislava Airport in Slovakia, with delays expected throughout the day. Václav Havel Airport in Prague also faced operational challenges due to freezing rain, leading to flight cancellations and significant delays.

Despite initial closures and restrictions, operations gradually resumed at these airports, but passengers were advised to anticipate ongoing delays. The adverse weather conditions, including snow and freezing rain, have caused widespread disruptions across central and eastern Europe. Sky News meteorologists warned of icy conditions affecting various countries, potentially impacting travel on roads and in airports.

This weather-related disruption follows the recent chaos caused by Storm Goretit in the UK, which resulted in airport closures and flight cancellations. British Airways had to cancel numerous flights at Heathrow due to the adverse conditions. Furthermore, extreme cold in northern Finland led to flight cancellations, leaving thousands of tourists stranded at Kittilä Airport.

As airports work to recover from the weather challenges, passengers are urged to stay informed about the situation and expect continued delays.
