Irish authorities are currently probing a suspected murder-suicide case following the discovery of a man and a boy deceased in separate residences in west Dublin.
Emergency responders were summoned to a property in the Cherry Orchard neighborhood of Ballyfermot around 8:30 am on Thursday where they found the body of a 48-year-old man inside the premises.
Subsequent investigations led to the finding of an 11-year-old boy’s body in a dwelling in Clondalkin. Both sites have been cordoned off for forensic analysis by the Technical Bureau of An Garda Siochana.
The father’s body was reportedly located in a shed at the back of a property. The Coroner has been informed, and the Office of the State Pathologist has been called in for assistance. The bodies have been removed from the locations, and post-mortem examinations are scheduled.
In a statement, the Gardaí mentioned, “Gardaí are looking into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of two bodies in residential areas in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, and Clondalkin, Dublin 22, on January 8, 2026.”
The examinations following the autopsies will aid in the investigation process, which is being overseen by a Senior Investigating Officer.
