Police authorities have released surveillance footage as part of their efforts to locate a man involved in an alleged sexual assault incident on a train. According to the British Transport Police, the man in question sat beside a female passenger and proceeded to sexually assault her. Despite the woman changing seats twice to evade him, he persistently followed her on both occasions.
The incident, as reported by law enforcement, occurred on the District line train headed towards Cannon Street Tube station in London on the evening of December 15, shortly before 8 pm. A photograph of a man potentially connected to the case has been made public by the police in hopes of advancing their investigation.
In an official statement, the police urged the public for assistance, stating: “Can you identify this individual? Following a sexual assault aboard a District Line train towards Cannon Street Underground station, officers have released this image for identification purposes.”
The statement continued, “Just before 8 pm on Monday, December 15, a man sat next to a woman and committed a sexual assault. Despite her attempts to move away from him twice, he pursued her each time and resumed sitting beside her.”
Authorities believe that the individual depicted in the photograph may possess crucial information pertinent to their inquiry. The public is urged to reach out to the British Transport Police if they can identify the individual by sending a text to 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, citing reference number 683 from December 15.
