“Hobbycraft Announces Closure of Three More Stores”

Business"Hobbycraft Announces Closure of Three More Stores"

Hobbycraft is preparing to close three more stores this weekend, offering discounts of up to 70% off. The popular arts and crafts retailer will be shutting down its Crayford store on Saturday, followed by the King’s Lynn branch on Monday, and the Stafford store the following Sunday.

The ongoing sale at these locations provides an opportunity for customers to enjoy substantial discounts before the stores permanently close. Hobbycraft has been implementing a significant business restructure and has already closed at least 15 stores as part of this process, including branches in Chichester and Maidenhead earlier this week.

Owned by Modella Capital, Hobbycraft emphasized that these closures are crucial to safeguard the future of 99 stores and 1,800 jobs within the company. CEO Alex Wilson expressed that while saying goodbye to stores is difficult, it is a necessary step towards a brighter future. The company is focusing on enhancing its online presence, introducing innovations like Hobbycraft TV, and maintaining its dedication to fostering creativity across the UK.

In a similar trend, Bodycare recently entered administration, leading to the closure of several stores. Poundland, which was recently acquired by Gordon Brothers, had announced plans to shut down 68 stores; however, 11 of these closures have been postponed. Poundland aims to reduce its total store count to around 650 to 700 stores from the initial 800 branches as part of its restructuring strategy.
