InternationalGreenland Resident Warns UK: Civil Strife Looms

A resident of Greenland has issued a stark warning to the United Kingdom while endorsing President Trump’s push for a potential American acquisition of the Danish territory, citing internal turmoil on the verge of erupting into civil strife.

Jorgen Boassen, a 51-year-old entrepreneur in the construction industry who identifies as a “revolutionary,” is among a minority advocating for Greenland to become part of the United States.

Boassen fervently promotes the “Make Greenland American” campaign, despite facing personal consequences such as strained relationships with his fiancée and daughter.

While President Trump argues that the transfer would enhance security and be straightforward for the U.S., the proposal has met intense opposition. Greenland’s resolute Prime Minister has criticized the U.S. leader for his “intimidation tactics.”

With a population of less than 60,000, Greenland is an autonomous region under Danish sovereignty, holding strategic significance for organizations like NATO and the EU. However, internal discord is escalating. Boassen acknowledges that his family members-in-law strongly oppose his pro-American stance, alleging that his partner was terminated from her long-standing position at Air Greenland, a Danish airline, shortly after his attendance at Trump’s inaugural events.

Boassen describes a prevailing “climate of fear,” marked by fractured families and violent altercations in local establishments. He disclosed, “My construction company shut down due to being ostracized, a fate shared by other businesses supporting Trump. I’m currently residing in Copenhagen as locals back home fear association with me. This encapsulates Greenland’s current state – those in favor of American intervention are hesitant to speak out, gripped by fear.”

Expressing concerns about a potential civil conflict, Boassen emphasized the soaring tensions, stating, “Danes control the majority of businesses here, aggressively targeting individuals like me aspiring to collaborate with the U.S.”

Forewarning of potential violence, he highlighted the widespread firearm ownership, asserting that nearly every household possesses hunting guns. He issued a direct caution to the PM, advising, “Therefore, I caution the EU and the UK, including Sir Keir Starmer, to exercise caution before intervening, understanding the reality of Denmark’s oppressive actions against our populace.”

Despite Denmark’s and Greenland’s stance that the territory is not up for sale, the dispute has strained U.S.-Europe relations, with Denmark’s premier cautioning that a U.S. annexation could jeopardize NATO’s future.

Sir Keir Starmer delineated his standpoint on Greenland during a recent discussion with Donald Trump, as confirmed by Downing Street. The Prime Minister reiterated that Greenland’s fate should be determined solely by Greenland and Denmark, as reiterated earlier in the Commons.
