Elon Musk, the billionaire behind Tesla, reportedly corresponded with Jeffrey Epstein via email to inquire about the optimal time to attend a lively event on Epstein’s controversial island. The exchange took place years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for child sex offenses. Musk’s email to Epstein in November 2012 sought details on the most happening day or night for a party on the island.
Epstein responded by asking how many individuals would be joining Musk for travel to the island via helicopter. Musk, in his subsequent email, mentioned that only he and his then wife intended to visit the island.
The communication between Musk and Epstein extended into early 2014, with Musk seeking information on their potential visit to the island in December 2013. However, Musk later expressed regret as his New York commitments prevented him from attending the planned gathering.
There is no implication of wrongdoing based on the disclosed emails. Notably, various individuals featured in previous releases have denied any misconduct related to Epstein.
In another message from 2012, Epstein discussed Musk attending an engagement organized by him. The conversation mentioned the presence of girls at a particular location and Musk’s upcoming lunch at Epstein’s house.
The released messages may spark inquiries into Musk’s connection with Epstein, contradicting Musk’s prior statement that he had declined to visit the infamous island. Musk criticized media reports linking him to Epstein, emphasizing his refusal to visit the island in response to a tweet in September 2025.
Last year, Musk stirred controversy by suggesting on social media that Donald Trump was hindering the release of the Epstein Files due to his involvement. This led to a brief rift between Musk and Trump, although they have since been seen together in a seemingly more amicable manner.
