A small-scale trainer, managing just two horses, achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. Despite facing competition from renowned stables like Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as Rocky’s Diamond who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle, Connor King guided Oscars Brother to victory, expertly ridden by his brother Daniel.
Maintaining a prominent position throughout the race, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, delivered a strong finish, crossing the finish line three lengths ahead of Koktail Divin from the De Bromhead stable. The seven-year-old had previously prepared for the three-mile race on challenging ground at Galway.
Daniel expressed his delight at winning for his brother, describing the experience as “class.” He praised Oscars Brother, acknowledging the horse’s positive progression and competitive spirit. Looking ahead, the duo aims to elevate their horse’s status to a Grade One contender, despite having only one other horse in training at their stable.
With aspirations of competing in the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the festive season, Connor, a former jockey, emphasized Oscars Brother’s potential as a successful chaser, building on his previous hurdles performance. Reflecting on the race, Connor recalled last year’s three-runner event, highlighting it as a desirable target for Oscars Brother’s future endeavors.
