In conjunction with the withdrawal of British troops, the US has initiated the evacuation of some employees from the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which is the largest American base in the region. An unnamed US official described the personnel evacuation as a precautionary step, offering no further specifics.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Pakpour, commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, issued a warning of a forceful reaction to the deaths of Iranian individuals, emphasizing that the country will respond decisively. Pakpour alleged that the US and Israel were responsible for inciting protests and causing numerous casualties, vowing that these nations would face repercussions at the appropriate time.
Keir Starmer, a prominent figure in the UK, announced plans for additional sanctions against the Iranian government, condemning the brutal repression and killings of protesters. He criticized the Iranian regime’s actions, highlighting the stark contrast between the bravery of the Iranian people and the cruelty of their leadership.
Yvette Cooper disclosed that the UK had imposed new sanctions on key sectors in Iran, including oil, energy, nuclear, and financial industries. Further measures are set to target finance, energy, transport, software, and other significant sectors contributing to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Cooper emphasized the collaboration with the EU and other partners to explore additional steps in response to unfolding events.
