“British Gas Experts Share Winter Heating Tips”

Business"British Gas Experts Share Winter Heating Tips"

British Gas experts recommend a simple way to keep your home warm without turning on the central heating. Energy engineer Jessica Rawstron suggests leaving the oven door open after cooking to utilize the residual heat. By doing so, you can slowly transfer warmth into your kitchen, helping to maintain a cozy environment. It’s advised to be cautious with children and pets around the open oven door.

In addition to this tip, British Gas provides various winter preparation suggestions, such as sealing gaps around windows and doors to prevent draughts. Regularly bleeding radiators and ensuring timely boiler servicing are also essential to ensure efficient heating.

As temperatures drop across the UK, yellow warnings for snow and ice have been issued in several regions. Households are likely to rely more on heating systems, especially as energy bills have recently increased. The average annual gas and electricity cost for households using direct debit has risen to £1,758, following the price cap adjustments. It’s important to note that the price cap regulates unit rates and standing charges but not the total energy bill, which depends on usage.

The price cap for pre-payment meter users now stands at £1,711 annually, while those paying upon receipt of bill face a yearly cost of £1,894. The price cap undergoes updates every quarter, with the next adjustment scheduled for April 2026.
